Hi i’m Colin Compare from compareinsurance.com.au, you can call me Colin.
I learnt about the importance of insurance the hard way 15 years ago my pet dog Chase was hit by a car and fractured his femur. Don’t worry Chase was ok in the end but it was the cost of the treatment that hurt me badly! It cost me $3,000 for his surgery for a pin to be put in his leg. Little did I know at the time that pet insurance would have covered at least 80% of the cost of Chase’s surgery and subsequent vet bills!
Then, the very same year I was enjoying my holiday in Singapore when I got a bad case of food poisoning and had to be admitted to hospital for 2 days. I stupidly didn’t have travel insurance (back then I was a young boy and didn’t think anything would happen to me) and I ended up paying $1,500 a night for my hospital stay and medicine which completely ruined my holiday to say the least!
So after my year of mishaps I made it my assignment to never be without cover again and to teach the world about the importance of insurance.
So look where I am today! I’m now an insurance expert working at compareinsurance.com.au helping thousands of Australian’s find the right insurance policy.

What’s your favourite car?
As a young boy I loved playing with my Matchbox cars and I guess I never really grew up. I am a bit of a classic car enthusiast really. It’s pretty hard for me to pick my favourite car but I do love the classic Sunbeam Tiger. My reliable get around is my Volvo V60.
What’s your favourite sport?
There’s nothing better than a sunny day out on the golf course.
What’s your favourite food?
Aussie BBQ of course!
Where’s your favourite place?
I couldn’t possible pick just one place. I love to travel and I’ve done my fair share. I think my top 3 would be Italy, Japan and New Zealand. And of course my home country of Australia.
What’s your favourite animal?
Obviously my favourite animal is my new best furry friend, Catch. But if I could be any animal in the world I would be a Cheetah as they are the fastest cat alive. Did you know they can run up to 97km/h? Now that is fast!
What’s your favourite song?
Oh it’s so hard to choose just one. I’m going to have to pick my top 3….
