Not worth paying for - better to stay uninsured
We've been members of AHM for 2 years and have so far claimed only for a few dental and physio visits. My 4 year old son has to have his tonsils and adenoids removed, which we checked was covered under our membership. The surgeons fees are $1100. When I rang to find out how much of this AHM covers I couldn't believe it - $70. Not $700 - $70. Taxpayer funded Medicare pays $220. We also have to pay a $500 excess for a day admission. We would barely be better of uninsured. As members for 2 years we've paid over $6000 for family cover. What's the point of having private health insurance, as we are so strongly pressured to do - if you're actually worse off than paying the levy and not being insured. I'm definitely switching companies after this.
