Disgusting treatment during the Covid pandemic.
Fast Cover were pathetic.
I selected Fast Cover based on a recommendation from a family member who had used them previously, and the ability to be able to extend the policy beyond 12 months, once overseas.
After one month abroad, I was issued with an email statement stating that my partner and I would no longer be covered for any claims relating to Covid, as the virus had been declared a pandemic. I accepted this risk, and chose to remain abroad. Later in the year, as the situation has developed, I have decided to return to Australia, but due to the ongoing pandemic, this has proved a difficult and costly process. I have managed to secure flights home, approximately two weeks after the expiration of my current policy. I contacted Fast Cover, and was told that due to the pandemic they could not cover for a period of more than 24 months, due to the increased risks from the virus - DESPITE the fact that they have stated no coverage is being provided relating to the virus. When I pointed out that I had only held a 12 month policy, they then informed me that in fact, as I had been overseas for less than 12 months, I could not extend my coverage beyond 12 months.
To use the Covid virus as an excuse to deny an extension to a travel insurance policy for which I would have been otherwise eligible for, whilst at the same time openly stating that no cover is being provided for any claims related to the Covid shows a complete lack of responsibility to your customers. I am embarrassed to have ever taken out a policy with Fast Cover, and will ensure no-one I know ever makes the same mistake.
