Death of a family member - who lives outside Australia - BEWARE!
I am totally disgusted by this organisation. We travelled to the US and while there visiting my American family (I'm an Aussie, my husband is American), my father in law passed away. We are unable to utilise our purchased fully comprehensive policy with Allianz and make a claim relating to delayed travel home. The reason, the death was in the US not Australia.
It is appalling that if the death was in Australia a claim would not be an issue, but because my father’s death was in the US this changes the circumstances and ability to claim travel change costs etc.
This is not only unethical but morally unacceptable.
I hope that you, or those in your business are never placed in the same position that you have placed us in. Not only are we dealing with the death of our father, planning his cremation and memorial and also supporting this wife of 61 years (who’s 80th birthday is also today by the way), now we need to deal with this additional disruption to getting us back to Australia.
My promise to you, is this will be the last ever premium Allianz will receive from us both here and in the US, and we will be revisiting our house, contents and car policies on our return.
So, travellers beware....... And remember, this is what Allianz considers to be acceptable business practice.
