How can AAMI still be in business?
The worst claim experience, was told I had to take my car an hour and a half away for repairs as they didn't have an approved local repairer. I work full time so said this isn't possible. They said they'd check and call me back. Never did. I had to call twice before I was able to take it to a local repairer. They said the AAMI assessor would look at my claim in two months. Why would it take that long to look at pictures of a damaged vehicle? They didn't even have to attend in person. They wanted the excess immediately which I paid. After the assessor finally looked at it I called and said ok can I take it to be repaired now, because there is zero communication to let you know what's happening, none of the customer service staff knew if I could, they all look at your file and mumble and speak to themselves and have no clue what's going on. Like is this the first claim you've ever put through? Is this not what you do? I picked my car up from the repairers today and was told they had no record of the excess being paid. Luckily I'd kept every message from AAMI which proved I had paid it. I switched providers and will never return to AAMI. They are completely incompetent. It took about 4 months for a minor scrape to be repaired.
