Do NOT GO WITH THIS insurance

This was my first car, my first insurance.
I bought a car on finance from the dealership 3 months ago, I quickly made a policy with real insurance (the monthly repayments were adequate for me). I did not receive anything in the mail about any payment issues, however 2weeks ago I had a look at my account online with real insurance and there was an outstanding payment, I tried clicking on it, it said to contact real insurance so I did. When I spoke on the phone they told me my policy was cancelled (note that on my account it did not say that), and that I could not reinstate it. I then made a new policy again, and the operator did not tell me at all that I would NOT be able to as I was not insured within 30 days (note, I have had the car for 3 months and it was uninsured without my knowledge from 19/08/20-8/10/20) which is when I made the phone call to them. That’s alittle over a month. I had a bad car accident a week later, when I made the claim all was fine, however when the panel beater quoted a write off for my car, everything went south. The insurance started an investigation, and it came back that they deny my claim because I was more than 30 days uninsured and that I had been suspended 2 years ago for 3 months when On the policy I stated I wasn’t suspended in the last 3 years (like I’m suppose to remember what I did in the last 3 years, I don’t even remember what I ate yesturday). From all this, All I can say is if the whole purpose of an insurance company is to help you in time of crisis, and they turn their back on you, I find that a betrayal in many ways and also there is pretty much no point in doing insurance with them, when your going to be left with the same issues and worse because you wasted your time and effort.
So NO I do not recommend this insurance company, and when I called a lawyer for advice, as soon as I said real insurance, they told me “they are the worst good luck getting anywhere with them”.
I am now left with nothing but a $21000 finance and a car that has already been written off and cancelled rego.
