Non transparent robbing scammers
Took out a Gold policy under the family category for 4 of us. The excess said $200, I assumed this was for a claim made on behalf of my family.
We had all sorts go wrong on our trip, the usual crappy Jetstar cancelling and amending flights all over the place, paying hundreds of dollars on accomodation when we weren't even at our destination due to cancelled flights. Numerous extra airports to transit, numerous added expenses for meals, drinks, taxi's etc.
When I enquired into making a claim I was told that the $200 excess is charged for EACH PERSON for EACH and every INCIDENT. No where does it say this under the terms on the page when you are booking and selecting your excess selection. How convenient.
For us to claim for 4 seperate incidents throughout our New Zealand holiday, we would be up for $3200 in excess fees to cover around $800 in additional expenses/claims. I sent an email to them several weeks ago advising that they need to change their website to clearly show that the excess relates to each person and each claim. Nothing has changed of course, especially when it works in their favour when people change their mind about making a claim after discovering this con. Non transparent robbing scammers!
