I had the unfortunate experience of having to visit a hospital whilst in transit to South America. The ambulance bill along with the hospital bill was about $2000.
I also had to claim for the cost of an unexpected flight when the border between Chile and Argentina was closed due to snow, and I was unable to get to my international flight in reasonable time without booking a last minute flight. Also pretty pricey.
I provided all the evidence of what had happened to itrek via email, and within 2-3 weeks, everything was processed. It was a really easy process and I was very impressed with the service.
The reason I chose iTrek in the first place was because I had planned to go skiing, and it was pretty much the only insurance company that offered an affordable policy for winter sports. I didn't end up skiing in the end, but the choice to use iTrek worked really well and I'd definitely recommend iTrek to friends and family.
