DO NOT RELY ON ANY VERBAL DISCUSSIONS WITH BUPA
Bupa offered to waive off all waiting periods if I chose to upgrade my level of extras cover. However, when I went to submit a claim, they rejected it stating that they had agreed to waive off waiting periods only for claims that had 2-month waiting periods, while my claim had a 12-month waiting period. I basically trusted the verbal assurances of the store staff who later denied completely that he made any such offer, truly a case of buyer beware which is still totally cool. So all I will say is to make sure you get any offer in writing before signing up for anything as you could face this type of issues months after you sign-up. Of course, on multiple occasions previously in the same store itself (in Perth city) I've had difficulties with the store staff in getting any kind of written confirmation for transactions previously done in store (submitting a claim, submitting additional documents, changing policy/ cover, submitting a complaint, etc.). So if the store staff refuse to provide their offer in writing, then be very careful. Else like me you could very well be out-of-pocket by almost 3000-4000 dollars, or worse!!!
